Revolutionising Student Living: University of Staffordshire Student VillageUniversity of Staffordshire Student Village is a groundbreaking development in student accommodation, setting a new benchmark for sustainable, affordable, and inclusive living. Delivered through an innovative Public-Private Partnership (PPP) DBFO model, this £140 million project provides high-quality, net-zero carbon accommodation, ensuring long-term financial and environmental resilience.
At the heart of the Student Village is the Hub, a cutting-edge social and study space, featuring sustainable timber-framed construction, high-performance glazed facades, and intelligent energy management systems. The development, comprising 715 new rooms, a refurbished 298-room block, and enhanced campus connectivity via a pedestrian bridge and boardwalk, is designed with student well-being and accessibility at its core.
Financial innovation as a driving force helped secure financial close in July 2024. Using a pioneering finance lease model with Aviva Investors, and leveraging a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) structure created long-term fiscal efficiency. A self-financed solar power model, the first of its kind in UK student accommodation, significantly reduces energy reliance, reinforcing University of Staffordshire’s commitment to sustainability.
Beyond infrastructure, the Student Village project drives economic and social impact, with 25% of labour sourced within 10 miles and 50% within 30 miles, creating local jobs, apprenticeships, and training opportunities. This project is more than accommodation; it is a vision realised, a leader in sustainable design, and a best-in-class social infrastructure project.
A transformative legacy for students, University of Staffordshire, and the wider community. The Student Village project is the future of student living.
