Pritchatts Park Village stands as an industry-leading student accommodation project for the University of Birmingham, leveraging the strengths of income strip financing, strategic partnerships, and best-in-class sustainable living solutions.The partnership and project consortium consists of University of Birmingham, Equitix and Equans as equity partners, Equans as the construction and FM services provider and Equitix Management Services as the management services provider.
This £200 million transformation project has revitalised the 1960s halls, making them fit for the future. Key achievements include:
Construction of 496 state-of-the-art new build bedrooms, powered and heated entirely by electricity from renewable sources.
Refurbishment of 734 existing bed spaces, including the conversion of 1960s halls into ensuite cluster flats.
Creation of enhanced hub facilities to support an enriched student experience.
Development of a 482-space multi-storey car park.
Following financial close in December 2021 and a phased delivery approach, the project reached final practical completion certification of construction in September 2024, with works materially completed significantly ahead of programme in Spring 2024. The operational phase will span 50 years, encompassing hard and soft facilities management (FM). The contracting partners retain an equity stake throughout the project's lifespan, underlining the long-term commitment to successful partnerships.
Pritchatts Park Village addresses the need for modern, state-of-the-art student accommodation while prioritising sustainability with ultra-low carbon facilities. This robust business model ensures the project’s financial sustainability and continuous delivery of high-quality education infrastructure.
The works phase was delivered in a collaborative, considerate and efficient manner ensuring the project was completed ahead of programme, to a very high quality, on budget and minimised any negative impact on stakeholders. The operational phase and use of the facilities was given the best foundation to succeed.
