Partnership between Amey, Birmingham Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust and Vercity

United Kingdom

Amey, a leader in the Facilities Management (FM) sector, has been working with Birmingham Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) and Healthcare Support (Erdington) Ltd (HSEL), under a 37-year PFI Contract. The Mental Health Foundation Trust provides inpatient, community, and specialist mental health care for over 80,000 people across Birmingham and Solihull and the West Midlands. Amey supports this by providing reactive and planned maintenance, catering and transportation services across 18 properties in a 9sqm radius – enabling end users to access critical services such as rehabilitation, addiction support, and secure care.

The PFI estate includes buildings that are specific for the needs of the service user. They range from secure facilities, to care for the elderly, to accommodation that supports the service user with being more self-sufficient as they look to leave the hospital facilities and move back into their own home or supported accommodation.

Vercity is an SPV management company that provides management services to HSEL and offers efficient governance, enhanced oversight, and transparent reporting services, which play an integral part in the PFI contract between Amey and the Trust.

When several stakeholders are involved in a project, operations can become complex, but through a collaborative approach across all three parties, this partnership has become exemplar.
