Mitie has been working in collaboration with the SPV (HMU) and UCLH Trust to deliver innovative facilities management and technology services through various projects at University College London Hospital (UCLH). These projects include:

LED lighting

Solar panel installation

Air Handling Unit (AHU) motor replacement

LED Lighting Project

As part of the Trust's 2020-2025 Green Plan, the LED lighting project aimed to:

Improve energy efficiency

Enhance patient well-being

Reduce maintenance costs

The project has saved approximately 500 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually.

Solar Panel Installation

The solar panel installation aimed to:

Provide long-term energy savings Reduce the carbon footprint Align with sustainability goals

This project is expected to save 949 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over the next 30 years. AHU Motor Replacement

The AHU motor replacement project:

Enhanced indoor air quality

Provided significant energy savings Reduced carbon emissions

It is expected to save £424,000 annually and nearly 500 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually. Reusable Cage Liners The reusable cage liner initiative aimed to: Reduce plastic waste Save costs on disposable covers Promote a sustainability culture It has saved 1.69 tonnes of plastic waste annually.

Collaboration and Success

For each project, Mitie worked closely with stakeholders, analysed cost vs. benefits, and considered the impact on Trust operations. The success of these projects can be attributed to the collaboration between the Trust, SPV, and Mitie, with each playing a critical role in their execution. These initiatives demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and innovation, resulting in significant environmental benefits and cost savings for the Trust.
